The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS), organised by the Regional Ministry of Business, Self-Employment and Energy together with the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA), continues to consolidate its position as one of the leading nautical events in the Mediterranean, with a growing focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The next edition will take place from 29 April to 2 May at the Moll Vell in Palma de Mallorca. This year, organisers aim to further reduce the event’s environmental footprint by focusing on lower greenhouse gas emissions, improved waste management, and increased awareness of sustainability among exhibitors, suppliers and visitors.

According to organisers, commitment to sustainability is a necessary evolution in order to adapt the event to current environmental, social and economic challenges. The goal is to ensure that the show continues to grow while maintaining a positive impact on both the local community and the marine environment of the Balearic Islands.

To better understand the boat show’s contribution to the regional economy, organisers will once again collect data so that the Directorate-General for Economy and Statistics can calculate its economic impact. A previous study carried out two years ago revealed that PIBS generated an economic impact of €20.1 million, while also helping to extend the tourism season by attracting visitors during a traditionally quieter month.

More recent data shows that this impact continues to grow. The latest analysis recorded a 4.5% increase, bringing the total economic impact to around €21 million. The show plays a key role in supporting local industries such as hospitality, restaurants and retail, while also strengthening the international presence of the Balearic nautical sector.

The event will also introduce a new unified identity integrating all areas under a single brand to reinforce its national and international profile. The show will be structured around three main areas:

  • Shipyard & Equipment – featuring yachts up to 35 metres, shipyards, distributors and marine service providers.
  • Superyacht Village – showcasing yachts over 24 metres available for sale or charter, with access for industry professionals.
  • Superyacht New Build Hub – dedicated to sailing mega yachts over 35 metres, bringing together shipyards, naval architects and design studios.

While the main exhibition will remain at Moll Vell, the Superyacht New Build Hub will be located at Marina Port de Mallorca.

The last edition of the Palma International Boat Show featured 304 participating companies, more than 600 boats on display and over 30,000 visitors. The event continues to play an important role in promoting and revitalising the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands, considered strategic for the region’s economy.

According to the Balearic Marine Cluster, the nautical sector in the islands includes around 880 companies dedicated to recreational boating, generating a turnover of €1.106 billion and more than 5,000 jobs.
